Biografie:
John Christopher Depp al II-lea s-a născut pe 9 iunie 1963, în Owensboro, Kentucky. Tatăl său, John Senior, era inginer, iar mama sa, Betty Sue, chelneriţă. A fost întotdeauna apropiat de mama sa, însă şi mai apropiat a fost de bunicul său, pe care îl cunoştea sub numele de Pawpaw. După moartea bunicului său, pe când avea 7 ani, Johnny s-a mutat împreună cu familia în Florida, unde au locuit prin moteluri.
Copiii Debbie, Christie, Danny şi Johnny s-au obişnuit foarte greu cu ideea de a fi mai mult pe drumuri. Johnny a fost cel mai afectat, încă de la vârsta de 8 ani fiind interesat de Evil Knievel şi de al doilea război mondial. A fost exmatriculat din şcoala, iar la vârsta de 12 ani începe să fumeze. Au urmat alcoolul şi drogurile. Pe lista lui a venit apoi rock and roll-ul. A descoperit muzica în Owensboro, datorită unchiului său. Pe când era adolescent a primit o chitară de la mama sa. A intrat în formaţia „The Flame”. Depp a renunţat la şcoală, la vârsta de 16 ani, pentru a se apuca serios de muzică. Împreună cu membrii formaţiei, se mută la Los Angeles. La vârsta de 20 de ani, Depp se căsătoreşte cu Lori Anne Allison.
Deoarece formaţia nu prea avea succes, soţia sa îi propune actoria şi îi face cunoştinţă cu prietenul ei, Nicolas Cage. Acesta îl va ajuta să obţină primul său rol, în filmul „A Nightmare On Elm Street”. Se înscrie la şcoala de actorie „The Loft” din Los Angeles. Obţine rolul lui Lerner, în „Platoon”. Au urmat numeroase roluri în seriale tv. Devine unul dintre cei mai apreciaţi tineri actori. Se logodeşte cu Winona Ryder, mai apoi cu Sherilyn Fenn şi Jennifer Gray. Îşi tatuează numele Winonei Ryder, tatuaj pe care îl modifică în Wino Forever, după ce se despart (1993). Va urma mai apoi despărţirea de Kate Moss, pentru ca în 1988 Depp să se mute la Paris, alături de Vanessa Paradis, cu care se şi căsătoreşte în acelaşi an. Împreună au doi copii: Lily-Rose Melody şi Jack. Debuteaza in "The Brave" (1997), un film nu foarte apreciat de critici. Urmeaza un alt esec in "Fear and Loathing Las Vegas" (1998). Continua cu filme precum: "The Astronaut's Wife", "Rosemary's Baby", "The Ninth Gate", "Sleepy Hollow", "Before Night Falls" (2000), "The Man Who Cried" (2001), "Blow" (2001), "From Hell" (2001). Insa rolul sau cel mai important il reprezinta cel al capitanului Jack din "The Pirates of the Caribbean" (2003), film ce ii aduce si o nominalizare la Oscar. In 2004 joaca in "Secret Window", un film nu foarte apreciat.
Ii urmeaza "Peter Pan" rol foarte apreciat de critici (pentru care primeste a doua nominalizare la Oscar pentru cel mai bun actor). Printre cele mai recente filme in care joaca este "Charlie & the Chocolate Factory". Johnny Depp este detinatorul unei stele pe "Hollywood Walk Of Fame". Desi a fost nominalizat la Oscar de doua ori, la fel si pentru Globul de Aur, nu a castigat decat un premiu Cesar.
